The John Wesley Pre-Primary School strives towards providing a carefully designed education in a Christian environment which encourages mutual respect between individuals and which prepares pupils for the demands of society.

The School offers educational programmes for children aged from 18 months to 6 years (Grade R) and it builds on a rich heritage of Methodist schools and has the support of the Methodist Church of Southern Africa.

Green Group

PLAYGROUP

Children aged 18 months to 2 years who only turn 3 after 30th June

The learners are supervised by Miss Claassens (Teacher) and 2 assistants. Under the direction of our experienced staff, children are exposed to developmental play, drama, music, movement and art activities.

Yellow Group

GRADE 000

Children aged 3 years or 2 years who turn 3 before the 1st July

The learners are supervised by Mrs Lever (Teacher) and an assistant. In addition to their normal school activities, the learners in this class focus on sharing and interact as a group while learning their basic concepts.

Blue Group

GRADE 00

Children aged 4 years or 3 years old who turn 4 before the 1st July

The learners are supervised by Mrs Hale (Teacher) and an assistant. In addition to their normal school activities, the learners in this class work through a “Skills Programme” which hones their fine motor skills and prepares them for their Grade R year.

Red Group

GRADE 0/R

Children aged 5 years or 4 years old who turn 5 before the 1st July

The learners are supervised by Mrs Moodley (Teacher) and an assistant. In this class, the learners are taught the official School Readiness Programme as laid down by the Education Department.

Literacy, Pre-writing and Numeracy Skills are deliberately developed. Concept formation is promoted and the learners are encouraged to practise the higher order thinking skills involved in problem solving, logical reasoning and lateral thinking. Independence and self-control are promoted in each child.
